1965 - 74m.

This little drive-in delight mixes horror and western for the tale of bloodsucking vampire John Carradine wooing a ranch owner's daughter to become his mate while her boyfriend, who just happens to be notorious outlaw gone straight Billy The Kid, tries to stop him.

Sure this one is pretty bad, sure it strays from vampire mythology every chance it gets (Carradine wanders in the sunlight numerous times) and sure it's more silly than anything; but at least it's none-too-serious in tone and is entertainingly campy.

Carradine (in what he considers his worst film) bugs his eyes out and is completely hammy; but he's quite fun to watch anyway. A bit slow in places but you gotta love the rubbery bat, the "shine a red light in Carradine's face to imply hypnosis", the fact our vampire leaves four puncture wounds(!) and a finale that has hero Billy (played by Chuck Courtney) ping Carradine in the head with his gun before staking him.

Bad movie fans will love this. Also check-out this one's companion piece, Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter.
