This first of two pretty much unnecessary sequels actually stays true enough to the basic premise of the Stephen King story it's based on and manages to be the best of the series.
Psychiatrist Michael Gross and daughter Hillary Swank (about four years before winning an Oscar for Boys Don't Cry) head back to his childhood town after his mother dies in a suspicious accident only to become the target of the resurrected greaser punks (led by one of my favourite genre scene stealers, Alexis Arquette) who killed his sister thirty years prior (and who he stopped from completing a Satanic ritual).
If you want steady entertainment with a fine cast of character actors (though Arquette's character does a couple of wisecracks too many) and some alright deaths (though the tarot card scene is a little dopey) this is it. And apart from the so-so "electricity" effects in the finale this has some decent make-up/gore scenes to enjoy also. Surprisingly good stuff.
Director/co-writer Adam Grossman would stumble with his sophomore effort the 1998 remake of Carnival Of Souls.
