1986 - 97m.

Heavy metal freak (and constantly picked-on) high schooler Edward Winbauer (Marc Price, "Skippy" from TV's Family Ties) is devastated when his favourite rocker, Sammi Curr, dies in a crash. However, he gets his hands on Sammi's last recording which when played backwards unleashes the undead rocker who proceeds to eliminate Edward's "enemies" while trying to return from the dead. It's up to his "number one fan" to try and stop him.

One of many "heavy metal" themed horror flicks to come out in the 80's this is probably the best one thanks to a script that has a good grasp on teen alienation, the fact Price makes a convincing anti-hero and enough silliness to make it an entertainingly mindless time.

Throw in lots of spoofs of the music industry (especially the PMRC), an amusing cameo by Ozzy Osbourne (as a anti-metal activist) and a generally dopey tone to go with the silly premise (a backwards record, come on!), an amusing "TV choke" moment and a completely dumb scene involving a toilet.

The poorest moment here would have to be the school dance massacre that just reeks of copying 1976's Carrie (only this time the baddie has a laughable "electricity shooting" guitar).

Don't take it seriously and you'll have a fair amount of fun. Lisa Orgolini is certainly nice to look at in the female lead. Also has a bit role for Gene Simmons of the group Kiss.
